On the Egg-shaped Structure of the Ethnicity Identification of Liangshan Yi People:A field study in Xiao Liangshan villages

本文以凉山彝族民主改革前后和时下的族属认同为个案,深入阐述其蛋形构造的特征及文化建构,提出族属认同的经验研究优于将“民族”、“族群”实体化和客体化的研究策略；认为硬性的族群边界并不存在,而同时承担区别与吸收功能的“族膜”则在族属认同中清晰可见。就此提出族属认同的研究不仅有利于认识民族现象的复杂性,也有利于深入理解、反思国内外因族属问题引起的各种社会矛盾的原因及其后果。

The essay studies the ethnicity identification before，during and after the democratic reform of Yi people in Liangshan. The author elaborates on the features of their egg-shaped structure and culture construction， and argues that empirical research of ethnicity identification is superior to the research strategy which substantializes and objectifies “nationality” or “ethnic group”. The inflexible borderline does not exist，while the“membrane”of ethnicity which has the function of differentiation and absorption is clearly visible in ethnicity identification. Therefore，the study of ethnicity identification is not only useful for understanding the complicate nationalities phenomena，but also useful for reflection on the cause and effect of the various problems related to ethnicity.
