The History of Social Thought in China is one of the representative research fields of Sociology with Chinese characteristics .The deepening of research promotes the construction of theoretical sociology in China greatly .Though sociology was introduced to China 100 years ago, no scholar reviewed the research situation of the History of Social Thought in China relatively comprehensively .What the author did in this article fillsin the gaps of this research field .According the author′s opinion, in the first half of this century , sociologists thought highly of it , but the fruits of research was limited ;in the second half of this century , scholars from China (including Hong Kong , Taiw an and overseas)all achieved remarkable success in this field .The article reviews these achievements sy stematically .Furthermore , Integrating with his research ex periences in this field , the author points the three common problems in the researches of all scholars from different areas .Meanw hile , he puts forw ard four tasks, which should be carried out as soon as possible.All in all , this article can not only tell us the outline of the research , but also inspire us thoughts about it .
