| 英文摘要： | The aim of this paper is to illuminate the processes of elite formation , consolidation, and diversitfication w ithin the g reater Chinese immigrant community in the United S tates . We attempt to ex amine the follow ing :(1)under w hat conditions ethnic elite g roups emerge and how social netwo rks and broader structural forces affect their development ;(2)how the dialectic of cohesion and conflict is inherent in the structure , operation , and relationships of various elite g roups ;and (3)how the new alignment of elite groups helps streng then the foo thold of the Chinese immig rant community in American society . |
