Based on available critiques and on the examination of the well-known and frequently applied framew orks of human actions presented in previous studies in the field of comparative social change .This paper provides an original typology of human behavior for the comparative analysis of the role of human actions in the processes of modern social transfo rmation . Data collected from a comparative interview survey into the patterns of behaviors of the elite g roups in modern China and Japan are used here as examples for the illustration of the typolog y .This new typology contributes to a better understanding of the mechanism of the interaction between different groups of people and the dominant development orientations and a better understanding of the relationship of the social planning and the actual social transormation .
