Social Organizations in Contemporary China; Theoretical perspective and empirical research 

中国市场化改革以来社会组织大量兴起,引发研究者试图对其政治与社会含义进行解释。过去20年间,“公民社会”与“法团主义”两大视角主导了这一领域的研究,两者试图在“国家与社会”的二元框架中理解社会组织,并围绕其在此框架中的具体位置展开争论。本文尝试梳理既有研究及其最近进展,抽取可供拓展的研究线索,并探讨超越此种争论的路径。本文试提出三个方向供进一步研究参考:1.跳出单一维度自主性的“陷阱”；2.解释经验现象在多个维度上的分化；3.探索社会组织内部群体生活的特征。

Countless social organizations have been emerging since China embarked on the economic reform. Explaining this new trend beyond the descriptive materials has gained momentum. During the past twenty years two conflicting theoretical perspectives dominate this research field; civil society perspective and corporatism perspective. While both of them try to locate social organizations in the dual framework of state and society, their central controversy lies on the concrete position of social organizations in the framework. As a literature review, this paper tries to extract new research directions and suggest possible ways to transcend this controversy. The author argues that the current research on social organizations in contemporary China can be improved in the following directions: (1) jumping out the trap of "autonomy" on the singular dimension; (2) explaining the systematic organizational variations on multiple dimensions; (3) exploring the characteristics of group life within organizations.
