The Self-centred Philanthropist: Family involvement and corporate social responsibility in private enterprises

本文试图探讨家族涉入对企业社会责任行为的影响。通过对第九次全国民营企业调查数据的分析，本文发现，一方面，家族涉入会提高企业对外部利益相关者的社会责任投入；另一方面，家族涉入却会抑制企业对内部利益相关者的社会责任行文。家族涉入与企业社会责任行为的这种矛盾关系是与中国家族的二元面向及中国特殊的关系结构密切相关的，它使得涉入企业的家族在面对与其关系不同的行为对象时，会表现出不同的行为逻辑，通过影响企业管理决策进而导致家族企业复杂的社会责任行为模式。

Though Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has attracted increasing attention in recent years, systematic studies on CSR of China's enterprises are absent from academic publications. This paper is dedicated to explore the effects of family involvement in CSR of private enterprises. Using the Private Enterprises Data in China, the paper reveals that, on the one hand, family involvement will improve the CSR investment towards community stakeholders; on the other hand, family involvement has a negative effect on CSR of contractual stakeholders. With the influence of "chaxu geju", the author attempts to point out that Chinese families tend to shift between different logics of behavior when faced with people with whom they have different types of relationships, and bring the action model into company when they engage themselves in management and business affairs.
